Are sidewalks on hills safe skating :D ?
The hills that I know with sidewalks are near suicidal.
Isn't this forum for "sidewalks"? If so, skog and pump the mofoze!
cheers all cYa

I read all your guys chicago posts, if you want some real hills you should come out west its about twenty minutes on the metra or thirty drivin from downtown. i've got about twenty to thirty rip roarin hills, garages, and parkin lots. If you guys want a tour i'd be happy to show you around even though its winter. Let me know, my buddy and i are lookin for more people to skate with.

Whats happenin fellow longboarders? I've been longboarding for about four years now, but skateboarding in general for about 8 years. I am a huge S9 fan. I am from the Chicago area so if anyone wants to hang out and bomb some hills drop me an e-mail. -peaCe

I'd love to say I agree but to quote a great man: "take a perfectly good functional gravity hypercarve and a hacksaw, apply hacksaw to tail. Destroy perfectly good functional board to create a lesser pintail in the persute of somthing that is trendy or looks nice."
O.k. its not a quote but its the rough messege. The riding isnt improved by not having a tail, its degraded. I admit I have a pintail but I use it for speed boardin and really you need no tail for that so....
First board has gotta be the hypercarve classic or mini carve, or carve series. They all rockin a surfstyle way but they is functional, beautiful and very well made. Good attention to wood and a great design.

the Krown pintail is great for beginners because pintails are the easiest to manuvere. The 43 inch length is my favorite. Gearguys has a great selection of cheap but productive boards Go to link below http://www.gearguys.com/900181.html

Exkates are pure liquid. Put a foot of water on every road in town. As good as they are on the reeeeally long decks, the sweet spot is 40" to 48". I've got 5 sets on decks from 36" to 58". I can still remember the night ride I had when my first set arrived on my 44" Freeride Crosstown. I was smiling and laughing to myself for a couple of hours while I cruised my favorite spots. Put on some soft 70's flashbacks and let yourself fly into the mystic. I feel so strong about the good vibe that I've given away 6 sets.
Ride on...

There is a sweet paved bike trail along running perpendicular to Foster Ave, 1/3 mi. East of Kedzie ave. The bike trail is buttery smooth and dips down beneath Foster, Bryn Mawr and Peterson ave. (a mile North of Foster ave.) Both are great places to pick up speed and carve on. Another awsome place in Chicago for getting some great downhill speed is on a paved bike/running path starting at Milwaukee and Devon ave. The start of the bike path is steep and runs about 70 meters but is super fast. Also if you ride a bicycle, you will find for yourself a bridge about 4 miles into the bike trail that is so steep and great for skating down. I believe it passes over Howard ave. but thats getting out of Chicago territory and more into Niles or so. I know of several more places, so if you wanna know, email me. Peace out and play safe.

I'm new to the San Francisco area and i was wondering if there were any locals that wanted to share some of their insight to a SoCal native in a strange land. All the hills that i've seen are WAAAAAAAAAAYYYY too gnarly to attempt. I'm looking for something fairly mellow to just cruise on for a while.
Help me please, i've found a hill around the SFSU area (were i'm going to school) but it's starting to get a little stale and I'm very desperate so help me out

are you talking about the bank at belmont and ashland six corners? hit the seawall that surrounds the aquarium if you want some serious vert or check out a couple of the skateparks, and if you're looking for small hills it's just around the corner from there when you're at the museum campus. any street coming off of ridge avenue towards the lake is all downhill. garages are killer too. watcha gotta loose?

FYI: I posted the CarveBoard review here (below) because it's a surfing cross-trainer, and as far as I know, it simulates surfing better than anything else on the market.
Enjoy the review. Review hyperlink: Click here for link
